Welcome Back!

Hello Parents/Guardians,

I’m so happy to be a part of this 1st grade classroom!  First grade is a very busy year, filled with lots of fun and learning!   I am very excited about all we have planned for your children for the year, and I look forward to working with you as well.

Here is a little about myself if you do not already know.  My name is Amy Sidrian and I have worked as a substitute at Knightsen Elementary School District for 6 years.  This will be my second year teaching 1st grade at Knightsen.  I am very happy to be working with your child.  I am confident my educational background, experience, and passion for teaching will provide your child with a positive atmosphere for learning and growth. If by chance you will need to get a hold of me please do not hesitate. The quickest way to get a hold of me is through my email (asidrian@knightsen.k12.ca.us).

I’m looking forward to a great year!

Amy Sidrian

Homework Info

Math:

Homework will be given daily and corrected in class.  If by chance students forget to tear out their assignment for the night on the right side of this page there is a locker with the folder GoMath Student Textbook.  In the folder the student book link and folders with their homework will be inside.  Students should continue doing Mobymax each night to get extra practice on their math facts.

Language Arts:

Students should continue reading for 30 minutes every day so that they are meeting their goals for AR points.  Most of Language Arts will be done in class, but if students do not finish their work in class they will take it home to finish it.

DOJO Points

Students may earn DOJO points for many positive choices they are making each day they are at school!!  Every Friday, students have the option of turning in their DOJO points for a reward coupon(s).  There are over 100 to choose from!  If they trade in their DOJO points for reward coupons.  Points will be exchanged and lowed and students trade them in for classroom coupons.

I take their points away in increments of 5 as a "negative behavior" on DOJO (it is the ONLY way to turn in points for rewards).  So, the only negative aspect you will see with DOJO, if you are connected with the app, is labeled as "DOJO points for rewards."  Please don't take it as your child having negative behavior in class.  We use our clip chart for that.
